Tuesday 5th Oct – Cruise Day 4 – Charlottetown – Capital of Prince Edward Island

Great weather – blue skies and sunshine.  Arrived about 11am which was an hour early.  I think our captain was racing another cruise ship, the MSC Poesia for the only docking position in the harbour – We Won!!  Which meant that we walked off the ship and the other passengers had to be tendered off.

We set off early for a quick stroll around the nearest part of Charlottetown.

Here's our ship from a distance.
We were booked on a tour of the island highlights and the Confederation Bridge which is the longest bridge in the world over ice covered waters and was built in 1996 to join Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick.  It’s 9 miles long and was built in an S shape.  It’s vaguely interesting as a fairly unique bridge and it took us 15 minutes to cross it and 15 minutes to get back.  See pictures below.

The rest of the tour was mainly driving around the farming countryside and looking at landscapes and villages.  It’s a very pretty place.  We stopped at a very very small fishing village for some photos but it was closed for the season.  Population is only 80 so it wasn’t surprising.

Then it was back on ship in time for our “Taste of India” meal.  Sat with a bunch of curry fans from Ohio, California, Colorado and Canada who were good fun.  Good show tonight with a bunch of comedians who were actually quite funny.

Tomorrow at sea all day.  By the way, the weather has been superb since we got on the ship – not a single drop of rain.
