Saturday 18th Sept - Kingston

Had a look at a couple of model homes to see what you'd get for your money.  Here's one that was going for just under £200,000 in Bath, Kingston ..........

All the houses round here have a full basement under the house that they don't finish (i.e. plaster) so they don't have to pay rates on them.  This house was 1600 square feet not including the basement.
Then we went for a tour of Kingston which was the first capital of Canada when it was confederated in 1867 and stopped at Sir John A Macdonald's house who was the first Canadian Prime Minister.

We were forced to dress up and pose with the servants...........

They used futuristic ironing machines .........
And had boot shaped tin baths.....
Then it was downtown Kingston and Fort Henry.......  Here's one of the city's police cars where they have bars in the back to stop criminals breaking in.

If the criminals succeed but get caught, they end up in the downtown penetentiary but the views from the cells are beautiful, across the old olympic harbour used in the 1976 olympics.
Here's a view of downtown Kingston from Fort Henry..............
and the local wildlife.  Evidently the Canada geese are becoming pests as there aren't enough of them ending up on the dinner plate.  They've tried sending them over to us in England but apparantly they keep coming back.
And of course no blog would be complete without the mandatory items of food and eating.  Here's the 5 second Canadian bacon that goes with pancakes and maple syrup......

We went to Aunt Lucy's which is a renowned Canadian restaurant and had some great steaks....
Off to Amhurst Island tomorrow.
