Thursday 9th Sept - We're Off - Manchester - Paris - Toronto

A day of queueing, sitting and reading.  Having already checked in on line, we still had to queue for 45 minutes at Manchester T2 to drop our bags off.

Still, the security queue was only about 15 minutes.  Good job Thom took us to the airport really early.  Thanks Thom.  Jean and I both set the alarm off going through security even though we had taken everything metallic off - so we got the chance to be scanned.  Flight to Paris was fine and even a little early landing which was a good job as we had to go through security again (another 40 minute queue).  Good flight onwards to Toronto which took 7 hours.  Interestingly, the plane went back over Manchester again!  Then it was time for our last 2 queueing sessions.  Another 40 minutes at Canadian immigration (we were at the back of the queue as we were in the back 2 seats of the 747-400 with it's 460 passengers).  Then finally 30 minutes at baggage reclaim.

So all in all 8 hours in the air and just under 3 hours queueing out of our 17 hour journey door to door!  Got to our Boutique Hotel at 7pm after a rush hour journey into downtown Toronto on the Airport "Express" bus.  Not only did I choose a hotel with a room without a wardrobe (we'll try and get it changed tomorrow) but we're right on the edge of the gay area.  Had a reasonable meal though, strangely not many women around - good job I had Jean with me!

Well that was all a bit boring - sorry about that - hope it gets more exciting tomorrow.

  1. Good to see you are there safe.

You booked a hotel called "Boutique" and wonder why you are in a gay area, you might find no rooms have wardrobes lol.
